Indonesian Fender Squier Serial Numbers
Fender doesn't have basses made in Indonesia. But Squier does. Since at least the year 2000. I have a Indonesian Squier that was made in 2000. The serial number starts with 'IC00' which means 'Indonesia Cort 2000 I think. I bought a Squier Affinity Strat last Dec. And on checking the serial number I got this from Google. Indonesian Squiers IC: I = Indonesia, C = Cor-Tek (Cort), the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year. IS: I = Indonesia, S = Samick, the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year. For example 'IC02' Made in 2002.

Click to expand.As far as I know, the Korean Cort made Squiers ended with the demise of the 'Pro Tone' series in 1998. Indonesian Cort production started in 1999 with 'Affinity Series' and 'Standard Series' (IC99 serials - you don't see many of these, I think the run was less than the full year and production volume may not have been high even when they were operating due to it being a new factory). I have an IC00 Squier Standard Series which was made in Indonesia in 2000. Your IC05 is 2005 Indonesian. IC0x Affinities in particular are extremely common, probably the most frequently encountered Squiers on the used market. Standards slightly less so, but still lots of them out there. Ladies ladies, stop your bickering!!!

Lol Softwarejanitor and stratphobic, both of you are correct in some kinda crazy way. Softwarejanitor is correct in stating that the body is opaque and you can see the grain on the head, however bonus points go to stratphobic for hawk-eyeing the colour on the front of the head, it seems to be stained to match the body colour. I love a good scrap! Good to see enthusiasts battle it out online. Now for round 2, what would you play on it for the 1st time? I've suggested 'Any Colour You Like' by the Floyd, but no doubt everyone would have their own suggestion.

For example 'IC02' Made in 2002. In 2009-10 some Indonesian Squier's had the prefix ICS09XXXXX and ICS10XXXXX. There are a number of standard models that have the ICS prefix some are FSR but some are just normal run models. It therefore appears as though the the S in ICS is only an indication as to whether it is a Factory Special Run or FSR guitar (manufactured by Cor-Tek in Indonesia). It also appears likely that any FSR guitar beginning with ICS will be a Squier 'Standard' as opposed to any of the other models i.e.
CV, Deluxe etc. My serial number is ICS10207241 so I know the year, but is there any other way I can determine the difference between a Standard and Affinity?
